Council gears up for bumper season

The Kouga Council is gearing up for a bumper festive season.

Kouga Executive Mayor Elza van Lingen said the new Council was working hard to ensure that the region would be ready for the influx of holiday-makers in December.

“We have identified critical service delivery challenges and are putting in place measures to curb service interruptions,” she said.

“Extra vehicles will be hired to deal with waste collection and to ensure our service departments like water and electricity are capacitated to deal with the problems that typically arise during the holiday season.

“Inspections of electrical lines have also been undertaken so that preventative maintenance could be done prior to the holiday season.”

She said extra traffic officers, lifeguards and law enforcement officials would be appointed to improve the safety of residents and visitors alike.

“While the new Council has had little time to prepare, it is our hope that everyone will be able to feel the difference this festive season.

“We want holiday-makers to enjoy our beautiful region and all it has to offer without having to worry about service interruptions,” she said.

The Mayor said the Council’s goal was to ensure that people’s holiday experience in Kouga improved year on year.

“Many of our businesses and residents depend on tourism to make a living. We cannot afford to have visitors cutting short their holidays because of poor service delivery. We want them to stay longer and we want them to come back for more,” she said.

“That is why we will be doing everything in our power to ensure that the municipality provides the service support needed to make this holiday season a success.”

Hou so aan julle maak regtig ‘n verskil.
