Ramatlhodi shifted from mineral resources to make way for unknown Free State MP linked to Gupta wedding scandal.
President Jacob Zuma has stunned with a late-night cabinet reshuffle, moving Ngoako Ramatlhodi from mineral resources to public seervice and administration, reports Rand Daily Mail.
Making the announcement, Zuma said: “I have decided to fill the vacancy in the Public Service and Administration Ministry, created due to the tragic and untimely demise of the former Minister, Mr Collins Chabane in March 2015. Adv Ngoako Ramathlodi shall be the new Minister of Public Service and Administration.”
He has appointed relatively unknown Free State MP, Mosebenzi Zwane, to replace Ramathlodi in the powerful portfolio.
Zwane’s only claim to fame has caused a buzz on twitter – he was the man who invited the Gupta wedding guests to land at Waterkloof Air Force base in violation of official protocol.
Ramathlodi has presided over a sharp decline in South African mining as commodity prices have been hammered by slowing down of the Chinese economy.
Zwane was provincial MEC for economic, small business development, tourism and environmental affairs. – RDM News Wire
