On behalf of the DA in the Eastern Cape I want to express my horror and total outrage at the senseless killing of Port Elizabeth Grade 7 teacher Jayde Panayiotou, who was abducted outside her home yesterday while waiting for her lift to work.
Our country is in a crisis. By killing teachers, who are trying to impart quality education to our children, we are killing the future.
It is time that the political leadership, civil society and the religious fraternity come together to end senseless and violent crime.
Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends and with the pupils and her colleagues at Riebeeck College Girls’ High School.
