The leader of the DA in Kouga, Elza Van Lingen visited all the towns in the region this week.
Of particular concern was the vast amount of uncollected refuse that is evident in Humandorp, as well as other towns like Jeffreys Bay.
Sewage spills are also commonplace in the Kouga, with raw effluent running in the streets in Kruisfontein as well as Mandela Bay (Jeffreys Bay).
“I will be taking the issues up with the respective national departments as the people of Kouga cannot continue to live like this,” said Van Lingen.
“It is time for change in Kouga and the DA is ready to govern and can about a better quality of life for all of our residents,” added Van Lingen.

Along with the rubbish that is increasing in Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay, could you also address the fact that cows (beeste which I understand belong to people of the Transkei is now roaming all over Jeffreys Bay. Not taking into account that this is a danger on the road for vehicles, there are no dams for the animals to get water from and no decent fodder for them to graze on!! Jeffreys Bay is a Town not a Farm, Plot or Homestead. Please can something be done about this. Also as far as tourists and Holiday Makers are concerned we have become embarrased how our Town which we love is starting to look.
