Elza Van Lingen, the leader of the DA in Kouga has confirmed that Councillor Eugene Groep’s post mortem revealed that he died of natural causes and that foul play was ruled out.

“Furthermore the case laid against him with the South African Police was withdrawn due to lack of substantive evidence.

This decision was taken by the prosecuting authorities last Friday morning before his death became known” added Van Lingen.

The funeral for Eugene will be held at 12 pm on Saturday in Humansdorp.
