Following the DA’s announcement yesterday of the names of those persons nominated as possible DA Premier Candidates in Gauteng, I wish to advise the media that Mr Vaughan Reineke has since withdrawn from the process.

The nominated persons are now (in alphabetical order):

•Jack Bloom
•Mmusi Maimane

These two candidates will now appear before an Electoral College on the afternoon of Friday 9 August 2013. Each candidate will undergo an extensive interview conducted by the members of the Electoral College, after which an election will take place to determine the successful Premier Candidate.

The Electoral College is a closed party meeting.

The name of the DA’s Premier Candidate in Gauteng will be announced to the public this coming Friday evening.
