Tourism and Local Economic Development portfolios meet today

The next round of Portfolio meetings take place at the Council Chambers in Jeffreys Bay this morning and will be attended by the DA Councillors.

There was disappointing news at the Finance Portfolio meeting yesterday when the DA was again presented with minutes of meetings that did not accurately reflect what had transpired at a previous Council meeting.

It also appears that the officials have defied a Council decision to cut the budget by 6 % and it has been minuted that they simply cannot achieve this target.

We are now left with a financial situation in Kouga where we first determine what our expenditure is and then we budget our income to cover the expenses.

This is simply unacceptable and will not be supported by the DA Councillors. We will insist that good corporate governance as well as proper accounting procedures apply in our Municipality.

  1. Paul Pezarro Says:

The ANC administration must stop its “ducking and diving” The complete and true state of the Kouga Local Municipality finances MUST be revealed – how ever desperate they may be. Only then can we assess the situation and begin to seek a solution.
