The DA is committed to our schools

The DA is proud of all Grade 12 learners and teachers of Lungiso High school in Humansdorp who attended school during the March holidays. Matric pupils were sitting in class and writing exams to make up for valuable teaching time that was lost during the first quarter of the year.

During the first weeks of the 2012 school year SADTU teachers were on strike because of dissatisfaction with salaries. This meant that pupils had a late start to what is their most important school year.

The hard work of the learners will be rewarded and we wish them all the best for their important June exams coming up.

This is the type of people we want to raise in our country, children that will work hard in spite of their circumstances.

The recent transport strike also resulted in 320 pupils not being able to attend school and again robbing pupils of the right to the quality education they deserve.

The high school which lies on top of the hill in KwaNomzamo in Humansdorp is also in a terrible condition, with broken desks and chairs and no sports field.

There are more than 800 pupils and not nearly enough desks to seat everyone.

Our students need people who can deliver their right to a better life.
