A 3 year maintenance contract has been awarded to Africoast Engineers to maintain the gravel roads in Kouga, reports Jeffreys Bay Councillor Henda Thiart.
With the budget allocated to them, they will be able to mainatin 5 380 km of gravel roads, both in Kouga and neighbouring Koukamma.
The engineers have said that they will rely on the Roads Forum for input regarding the state of the roads in the Kouga.
Unforeseen flood damage has NOT been budgeted for as part this this particular contract.
Extra funds for emergency work can be applied for through the district engineer’s office.
The contract is local intensive and therefore local labour must be appointed to do the work.
