Elza Van Lingen fights for State pensioners

The leader of the DA in the Kouga has come out fighting for some 16000 former government employees who are now being transferred from Medihelp to the Government Employees’ Medical Scheme (GEMS) where they will allegedly receive fewer benefits.

According to Van Lingen, who has slammed the November 2010 cabinet decision, there was no public participation and the decision had been unilaterally taken by government.

No Government should mess with the pension and medical scheme privileges of senior citizens / pensioners. Moving pensioners from one medical scheme to another in this particular manner is yet another ANC disgrace i.e. to unilaterally, without any public participation, move pensioners between medical schemes.
Not all pensioners have electronic facilities to keep abreast with recent moves and not all are able to communicate effectively and within strict time frames.
It is also a disgrace that pensionres are moved to another government medical scheme with fewer benefits.
When will these ANC blunders come to an end.
Hats off to Elza van Lingen,MP who as DA member of parliament, is fighting for this just cause on behalf of 16 000 pensioners. I am sure these pensioners will know to whom their vote will go in the next eletion.
